Of course, a large part of the problem is the fact that someone does know,
my information is out there, in fact, I know exactly where it is. I am just
not allowed to have it. I am not sure what the "powers that be" think
would
happen if they gave me the information, but just the same they won't give it
to me. They rather I beg, borrow and steal for the information, treating me
like a criminal (really, you should hear how people like records clerks
speak to me) when I attempt to piece together some semblance of a history.
It is humiliating and demoralizing to sneak around, feeling like I am doing
something shameful and being gleefully grateful for any scrap of information
tossed to me. And I am not alone.
There are hundreds of thousands like me. Adoptees, Adoptive parents, and
Birthparents. The media doesn't really want to hear about us. They like to
report on the one-in-a-million cases when adoption goes wrong. Apparently,
they aren't interested in the hundreds of thousands who are generally happy,
good people, who just want to bring their families a little closer, know
their histories, and know that the children they allowed other families to
raise are okay.
If you feel in any way that you are a position to help me or any of us,
please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here, on the internet, everyday,
praying that soon my own personal quest for the truth with be complete.
Thank you for your time,
Aileen
