CASE NO. 99-75_ _ _

Dear Aborn

This is in response to your June 25, 1999, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for certain specific documents pertaining to civil rights violatiosn of adopted individuals who try to obtain documents needed for their medical and family histories.

A copy of your request was referred to the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) to conduct a search of their files for responsive documents. Since that time, OCR has completed their search and identified no records responsive to your request.

There is no fee in this instance because charges do not exceed our billing threshold of $25.00.

While we believe that an adequate search of appropriate files was conducted for the records you requested, you have the right to appeal this finding that no records exist responsive to your request. Should you wish to do so, you must send your appeal within 30 days of the date of this letter to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs (Media), U.S. Department of Health And Human Services, 200 Independence Avenue, S.W., Room 645-F, HHH Building, Washington , D.C. 20201.
