All the files go: 1911-1930 1931-1950 1951-1970 1971-1999 They are all in TEXT files and when you double-click on them (you have to >copy to hard drive) they must be viewed through either Netscape or Word and take a bit of a time to load. They are searchable, but are in no special order and a lot easier than the fiche, which is in alphabetical order with all the years mixed in.

. Birth indexes for NYC five boroughs only. You may not photocopy the pages. Listed by Year (separate books that way), but by Last name of infant inside (I had thought it was chronological, starting with Jan 1 - )...It seemed to me that beginning in either 1967 or 68, there were two additional columns of information, being Mother's Maiden Name, and Father's First Name. 1966 and before have only the following: Last name of baby, First name, DOB, County, Certificate number. Also: I asked, and the cert #s start over each year, by county. So, for instance, a jan or feb birth is "always" three or four digits

time as the state resumes make these available. Once a request is received,
it will be processed and sent via Email within 36 hours. The cost $35.00 per

DALLAS COUNTY TX RECORDS DATA
Although records in Texas are still legally sealed, pre-1970 adoption decrees are now available to the general public on microfilm in the downtown Dallas Public Library (across from City Hall), in the sixth floor Texas History Collection. All you get is the final decree. If you are a birthparent, this will give you the adoptees name, adoptive parents names, and the date of the adoption, as well as any information that might indicate the child's name or status was changed (for example, if you gave birth to twins, but find an adoption for a "singleton", you know the agency split the twins). Records are indexed by the CHILD'S BIRTH NAME and the adoptive father's name, as well as the cause number. If you do not know the court or the cause number, it will still be a time consuming task, since the files are in chronological order, and adoptions are mixed in with every other kind of civil court case. If you are an adoptee, you MAY be able to find your records by searching on your adoptive father's last name. But the indexes are sketchy -Even if you find the final decree, you will get nothing other than your name at birth -- your birth parents names do not appear in these records. The bad news is that all the supporting court files have been destroyed. Other Texas counties may follow suit, by destroying the supporting files for civil court cases, and putting the final decrees on microfilm at the public library, but this is by no means certain. No interlibrary loans are available on these microfilms, and there is no "going back" -- the court files associated with all pre-1970 Dallas County adoptions are gone, either burned or shredded and sent to the landfill.
